Mostly, because their big circulating engines of pressure, air and moisture are incapable of feeling anything with regard to the timeliness of schedules, but also because sometimes Mother Nature just has other plans. Florida is uniquely situated in the United States jutting out from the rest of the country and bifurcating the Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico. Meaning hurricanes have plenty of opportunity to hit the Sunshine State at any given time.
