Gov. Phil Murphy will hold a 1 p.m. press conference on Monday to provide more updates on the state’s recovery from the coronavirus as cases and hospitalizations continue to decrease and more people get vaccinated.

Murphy will be joined in the George Washington Ballroom by state Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli, communicable disease service medical director Ed Lifshitz and State Police Superintendent Colonel Pat Callahan.
There were 1,079 patients in the state’s 71 hospitals as of 10 p.m. Sunday, down from 1,112 in the previous 24-hour period. That’s the lowest total since Oct. 29 when there 1,062 patients and hospitalizations were on the climb.
There were 250 patients getting critical care Sunday night with 165 on ventilators, down from 265 and 175 then night before, according to the state Department of Health’s dashboard.

Murphy will be joined by state epidemiologist Dr. Christina Tan and State Police Superintendent Colonel Pat Callahan.
The briefing comes two days after Murphy said indoor and outdoor capacity limits will no longer apply starting May 19. People must still be 6 feet apart from other groups in restaurants, theaters, houses of worship and other public places.
At least 3,153,594 people who either live, work or study in New Jersey have been vaccinated at sites in the Garden State, according to the department of health’s dashboard. Another 157,020 residents have gotten their shots out of state.
