school community. a d.c. middle school principal is found dead in his home in silver spring. sherry ly is live for us this morning in montgomery county. sherry, what is the latest? reporter: well sarah, the victim is 42-year-old brian bets, a principal at shaw middle school at guardianest patterson in d.c. right back over here is the home where he was found last night. this morning police are calling this suspicious. betts was the principal at shaw middle school for two years and hand picked by michelle rhee. before that he was a teacher and assistant principal. we got the call last night after a co-worker had discovered the body. the co-worker went there to checkup on betts because he didn t show up for work on thursday. this is the same house where 9- year-old erica smith and gregory russell were shot and killed by an intruder almost eight years ago. police say there is no known connection. another neighbor said the same thing yesterday too. and that he was supposed t
