Police Officer-in-Charge for Namizana Border post in Mchinji, Fly Khalichi, died last night. Mchinji district hospital authorities say he had earlier tested positive for Covid-19. January 19, 2021 Nyasa Times Reporter 6 Comments Two Congolese are in police custody in Dowa   for breaking Covid curfew rules after fthey were found selling beer beyond the newly gazetted 8pm. Dzaleka Refugee Camp Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda gazetted the new law on Monday as part of the fight against Covid-19. The two Congolese were arrested at Dzaleka refugee camp. Dowa police spokesperson, Gladson M’bumpha, says the two, Patience Bituta aged 23  and Samuel Deleleyu aged 27 were arrested in an operation meant to find out if bar owners were adhering to Covid-19 preventive measures. Meanwhile, police in the district are conducting sensitisation campaigns on Covid-19 prevention in all trade centers.

Mchinji District Hospital Clinician Arrested for Defiling Colleague s 7-Year-Old Girl after Hosting Party

Police in Mchinji district are keeping in custody a clinician at Mchinji District Hospital on allegation that he defiled a 7-year-old girl. Mchinji Police Officer in Charge, George Mtetemera confirmed of the news and identified the suspect as Lovemore Phiri. According to police, the suspect had organised a party at his house where the victim was in attendance. It is said as the party ended, Phiri, while drunk, offered to escort the young girl to her parents’ house but while on the way he found a chance to defile her. The young girl is said to be a child to one of Phiri’s colleagues.

Mchinji District Hospital Clinical Officer arrested for defiling 7 year old girl

A clinician at Mchinji District hospital has been arrested for allegedly defiling a seven year-old-girl. A Police report shows that the suspect, Lovemore Phiri, organised a party at his house where he got drunk. It says after the party, Phiri offered a lift to the girl, who is daughter to his colleague, and consequently defiled her on the way. Mchinji Police Officer In-Charge George Mtetemera confirmed the arrest adding that a medical examination was conducted at Mchinji District hospital where it was confirmed that the girl was defiled. The case comes barely days after the court sentenced a man into a life imprisonment for infecting a teenage girl with HIV.
