MOUNT OLIVE TWP. â A 28-year-old Budd Lake man was arrested for eluding and a host of drug and driving offenses after he fled police not once but twice following an accident on Route 46 on Saturday, Dec. 19.
According to police, Officer Gregory Slinger was on patrol in the Budd Lake area when, at 1:35 p.m., he saw a vehicle, minus a brake light and its driver not wearing a seatbelt, traveling on several streets in the neighborhood near the Budd Lake Diner.
When Slinger tried to stop the vehicle however, the driver, later identified as Michael A. Liska Jr., sped through the CVS parking lot on Woodsedge Avenue and onto Route 46 east, where he crashed into another vehicle. According to police, Slinger radioed in to Office Bill Galop, who responded to handle the crash while Slinger pursued Liska, who failed to stop at stop signs and struck snow banks.
