The Mt. Shasta Brewing Co. in Weed has removed the image of a Hindu god from its company website after a Reno man said one of its beer labels was offensive.
Rajan Zed, described in his email as a Hindu statesman and president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, wants the brewery to go one step further and remove the image of Ganesha from its Mountain High IPA beer label.
Placing the elephant-faced god of prosperity’s image on an alcoholic beverage was “disrespectful,” Zed wrote.
On Friday morning, the brewery decided to remove the image of the beer label from its website that describes the Mountain High IPA, Mt. Shasta Brewery manager Jeff Elliott said.
