Darlene Marie (Tokarczyk) Johnson, 79, of Duluth died peacefully on July 7, 2022 from dementia. She was born on October 13, 1942, to Edward and June (Hoving) Tokarczyk. After graduating from Duluth East High School in 1960 she attended UMD. In high school and college she was an accomplished majorette and participated in one of the first Christmas City of the North Parades. Darlene met the love of her life, Glenn Johnson, while working at Bridgeman’s on 14th Avenue East and Superior Street. Darlene worked as a waitress, Glenn was an accountant upstairs in their corporate office. They eventually married on June 8, 1963 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Duluth. They built their family home on Dodge Street where they were blessed with 3 daughters in 28 months, and owned it for 59 years. George Goldfarb is retiring from his position as chief executive of Duluth-based women s apparel company Maurices, and former Express CEO David Kornberg will take his place next month.
Goldfarb, 61, has worked at Maurices for 36 years and spent a decade as president and CEO. As part of the transition announced Tuesday, Goldfarb will join Maurices board of directors and move into the role of chairman emeritus. Maurices CEO George Goldfarb to Retire He’s been with the Duluth-based clothing retailer for more than three decades. The current CEO of Express will take his place.
George Goldfarb, longtime CEO of Duluth-based women’s clothing retailer Maurices, will step down from his job next month, the company announced Tuesday.
Beginning March 15, Goldfarb will end his daily duties as CEO and become “chairman emeritus” of the company’s board. David Kornberg the current CEO of Columbus, Ohio-based clothing retailer Express will take over as Maurices’ next CEO.
