Man back in jail for domestic assault after similar conviction in February

Columbia Daily Tribune A Columbia man is facing further domestic assault charges and others after a previous similar conviction in February. Gavin N. Sardis, 20, of Columbia, was arrested Monday on two counts of third-degree domestic assault, first- and third-degree kidnapping, armed criminal action and tampering with evidence. All charges against him are felonies, except for third-degree kidnapping, which is listed as a misdemeanor. Columbia Police Department officer George Chiang learned of the previous conviction in his investigation of two incidents involving Sardis and his girlfriend over the weekend. Sardis had pleaded guilty Feb. 1 to a Dec. 15 fourth-degree domestic assault incident, a misdemeanor, and was convicted to 30 days in jail, but had received credit for time served.
