Happy Birthday, 24 April, to our mother, Glenda Blackshaw. Our mother 1st came to Ridgecrest back in 1958 when our father, George Blackshaw, was offered a position here at China Lake. Our parents stayed until 1966 when they relocated to Los Angeles, as George took a position for an Aerospace company. Mom returned to Ridgecrest in 1972 and began teaching in the valley, where she started at James Monroe Jr. High School. While teaching at James Monroe Mom played on the teachers softball team, The Green Machines, and played 2nd base and was the team’s clean-up batter. From James Monroe, she also taught at Las Flores, Richmond, Vieweg, Ridgecrest Heights, Pierce, Groves, and Gateway Elementary schools. Mom continued teaching at Gateway Elementary until she retired in 1997, although she continued teaching as a substitute until 2010. To this day she continues her passion of teaching children,
