FIVE people from Herefordshire have been recognised in the New Year Honours List, including a college head. Ian Fryer Peake, former principal and chief executive of Herefordshire and Ludlow College, has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to education He was at the helm of the college, formerly Hereford Technical College, for 17 years. He retired earlier this year when David Williams took over. There s also an MBE for George Arthur Somers Hervey-Bathurst. Founder of the Ben Bathurst Memorial Trust, based in Eastnor, near Ledbury, he has been recognised for voluntary service to armed forces personnel and to their families.
