The turnover this month at the top of some of southern Maine’s leading school districts continued as Cape Elizabeth announced it has hired a new superintendent of schools.
Christopher Record, who is assistant superintendent of schools in Gorham, will become Cape Elizabeth’s next superintendent effective July 1.
Record’s appointment was announced in a statement Thursday by the Cape Elizabeth School Department. The town’s School Board hired Record, who will succeed Donna Wolfram.
Falmouth teachers push back against adding a day of in-person instruction
If approved, high school students would attend school on alternate Wednesdays, while elementary students will split the day.

FALMOUTH Officials presented conceptual plans for students to return to school on Wednesdays, but some Falmouth teachers made it clear they are not happy about it.
The proposal, which has not been finalized, calls for high and middle school students to alternate Wednesdays in person. Elementary students, who attend half days every day but Wednesday, would attend school daily, with half of the students going in the morning and the other half in the afternoon.

Falmouth opening schools to more students in March
The school committee also passed a resolution asking the state to push Maine teachers to the front of the vaccination line.

Superintendent Geoff Bruno said administrators are asking the state to prioritize Falmouth teachers for vaccinations, which will help staffing shortages created by educators quarantining after exposure to COVID-19.
