Chase remaking Gentilly Woods branch into ‘Community Center’
The Chase bank branch at Gentilly Woods is undergoing some changes that aim to help Black and Latinx consumers open bank accounts, get home loans and start businesses.
The bank said Wednesday it is redesigning the facility into its first ‘Community Center’ branch in the Southeast. A grand opening is scheduled Tuesday.
The branch will have a new community “living room” and tech bar, and offer workshops on saving, budgeting and building credit; provide mentoring for entrepreneurs and space to display and sell their merchandise; and offer free space and WiFi for community groups and neighbors to use for remote learning and work. Chase also plans to announce a new $5,000 down-payment assistance program for homebuyers in low-to-moderate income neighborhoods.
