Sheep Genetics USA Plans May 11 Webinar
Thursday Apr 22nd, 2021 Sheep Genetics USA will offer a webinar on Improving Genetic Tools to Enhance Profitability on May 11 at 8 p.m. eastern daylight time. The webinar is part of a series of webinars sponsored by the American Sheep Industry Association.
Utah sheep producer Tom Boyer will be the lead presenter, while Montana’s Ben Lehfeldt, Wyoming’s Brad Boner and Rusty Burgett of the National Sheep Improvement Program will participate as panelists for the webinar. As always, Dr. Jay Parsons of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will serve as host.

Thursday Mar 11th, 2021 Kickstarting genetic research and implementation is the main goal of an industry-wide mandate for the U.S. sheep industry called Sheep Genetics USA. Industry stakeholder are excited about the new endeavor to help the industry travel from the traditions of the past to the innovations of the future.

Celebrate “Meat-In Day” on March 20
Cities, counties, community organizations, restaurants, grocers and other businesses plan to fire up their grills, hold barbecues and celebrate the meat industry on March 20 in response to a proclamation by Colorado Governor Jared Polis declaring it “Meat Out Day.” The language in the proclamation, which is backed by a group called Farm Animal Rights Movement, claims a plant-based diet can “protect the environment by reducing our carbon footprint, preserving forests, grasslands, and wildlife habitats, and reduces pollution of waterways.” Additionally, it suggests that “removing animal products from our diets reduces the risk of various ailments, including heart disease, high-blood pressure, stroke, various cancers, and diabetes.” In response, the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association launched a fundraising campaign, accepting donations of $200, of which $50 will go directly to support feeding hungry children
