Feb 5, 2021 HUBBARD Mr. Lawrence Raines Jr., 66, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at the Hospice NW Ohio in Toledo. Mr. Raines was born Feb. 26, 1954, in Youngstown, a son of Lawrence Sr. and Anna Louise Simmons Raines. He was a 1972 graduate of East High School. Lawrence was in the skilled trades program and a licensed electrician at General Motors Lordstown for 21 years, retiring in 2019. Prior to working at General Motors, he was employed with Sharon Steel. He was a member of Steel City Sportsman Club, where he held the position of treasurer and caretaker. He enjoyed yard work, chess, music, computers, technology, bowling, fixing cars, old Western movies, hunting, fishing and family gatherings.

AUSTINTOWN Robert J. Ashley, 56, died unexpectedly Monday morning, Jan. 25, 2021, in Michigan. Robert was born June 6, 1964, in Youngstown, a son of the late Robert J. and Helen Molnar Ashley Sr. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1983 and worked for the General Motors Lordstown plant from 1996 until its closing. Following the Lordstown closing, Robert was forced to the Lansing / Grand River plant, where he was currently employed. Robert loved sports. He coached for the Austintown Junior Soccer League and was also very involved with the Austintown Fitch boys and girls soccer programs, where he videotaped and never missed a game. He was an avid golfer, played softball with the United Auto Workers Local No. 1112 softball league and collected baseball and football sport cards.
