Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Drag superstar Trixie Mattel has seen about five LGBTQ+ bars in Los Angeles permanently close during the pandemic. Others in the City of Angels are turning to GoFundMe to stay afloat.  She didn t want to see Milwaukee s This Is It! suffer the same fate. This Is It! was the first LGBTQ+ bar that Brian Firkus who developed his Mattel drag character in Milwaukee visited after turning 21. And it s the longest-running LGBTQ+ bar in Wisconsin, and one of the oldest in the country. U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin recognized founders June Brehm and her son Joseph for their contributions to Wisconsin s LGBTQ+ community, and the bar became the site of the Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project s first permanent public display in 2019.

(KSLA) - Earlier this month, Barksdale Air Force Base announced plans for the 2021 Defenders of Liberty Air Show but things will look a little different from years past due to COVID-19. “We still want to work with the local community and show the things we do, as well as provide support since the community shows so much support to us,” Major Daniel Dreier, the Director for the 2021 Defenders of Liberty Air Show said. “So we wanted to move forward with a safe show for the community and for the base that helps show support for each other in these trying times for everyone.”

CAE USA recently won the recompete of the U.S. Air Force KC-135 Aircrew Training System contract and will continue providing training to more than 4,500 KC-135 crewmembers annually.
