On Wednesday, May 19th, Food City will be hosting a company-wide hiring event to include both full-time and part-time positions. The event will be held at all Food City locations & Food City Distribution Center, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Food City is planning to hire over 1,000 friendly, smiling faces to work at their Distribution Center and in key customer and food service positions at store locations throughout their operation area. The positions include, both entry-level positions and experienced, skilled positions, such as meat cutter, cake decorator, and retail management, as well as various warehousing/distribution positions.

(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) May 26, 2021 – Comcast today announced the launch of 13 new Xfinity WiFi-connected “Lift Zones” in greater Knoxville to support low-income students, families and others impacted by the global pandemic.
Lift Zones provide robust Wi-Fi hotspots in safe community spaces, allowing students to get online, participate in distance learning and do their homework. The sites also serve adults, connecting them to online education, job searches, healthcare information and public assistance. The initiative provides free internet connectivity inside community centers and access to hundreds of hours of content.

Knoxville Area Association of Realtors endorse multi-use stadium development in Downtown Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Tennessee The Knoxville Area Association of Realtors today announced that its Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse the proposed multi-use, multi-sport stadium development to be located in downtown Knoxville. The project would also feature an additional $100 million in private, mixed-use development surrounding the stadium, including new residential and commercial space.

KCDC secures 25 housing vouchers for young adults leaving foster care
Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) has secured 25 vouchers through a new federal housing grant to assist young adults ages 18-24 who have aged out of the foster care system.
The organization recently applied for the Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) grant – which is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – and earned funding based on KCDC’s track record of Section 8 housing success and its working relationship with the Department of Children’s Services (DCS).
