General VP Malik, the Army chief who led India to victory during the Kargil War, expressed support for the Agnipath scheme today and said the Army is not interested in recruiting hooligans responsible for violence during the protests.
One serving officer said the government tinkering with service promotion procedures only serves to further politicise India’s higher defence management.
Explaining the importance of the job of Chief of Defence Staff, General V.P. Malik said, “Unless all three forces work together, we know that they are not effective.”
