Funding agreed for spy cameras at Bradford s fly-tipping hotspots
BRADFORD Council s Executive has approved spending £300,000 to boost the District s efforts to stop fly tipping. At a meeting on Tuesday morning, the decision making Executive heard that the extra funding would lead to a wider roll out of CCTV cameras in fly tipping hot spots - including more rural areas of Bradford. A report to the Executive said the extra cameras would make it easier to prosecute people who dump waste illegally. The funding will also pay for works to make sites blighted by fly tipping more secure. Although there have been a number of fly tipping prosecutions in recent years, work to tackle the menace is often hindered by the fact most fly tippers choose places that are isolated or not covered by the existing CCTV network.
