After years of saying it would not choose sides, the Philippines is now asserting a need to stand up to China’s territorial moves in the South China Sea.
MANILA (Reuters): The Philippines and the United States will this year carry out their biggest joint military drills since 2015, Manila’s army chief said on Wednesday (Feb 15), against a backdrop of growing tensions with China in the South China Sea.

Major General Brawner recently assumed as the first Deputy Chief of Staff for Financial Management, J10, an office which was newly activated last December 2020. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Commandant of Cadets of the Philippine Military Academy, Commander of the 103rd Brigade during the liberation of Marawi City, and served as the Chief of AFP Public Affairs Office.
