The Minn. Dept. of Health has not been able to identify the cause of an outbreak of viral stomach illness suffered by more than 35 people at a Rotary luncheon at the Moose Club. There were no illnesses reported by anyone eating at the club either before or after the Dec. 26 event, and the Moose Club was not forced to close.

From his lake shore retirement home near Garrison, retired Gen. John W. Vessey said the Gulf War appears to be going well. In a phone interview he said it looks to be well planned and executed. Saddam Hussein, he said, knows he can t win militarily, but hopes to win politically by breaking the coalition.

Tom Feierabend at first thought snowmobile racing was “a bunch of foolishness.” But watching sons Craig and Brad compete made something click. Dan and Virgie Heath got the most votes for their home on County Road 3. The Pier 25 Restaurant was top vote-getter in the commercial division.
