UPDF, police wrong to target journalists, citizens

Today, concerns about journalists’ safety and security are piling and more serious and widespread. Last week the country again witnessed another macabre event.
Ghetto TV journalist, Ashraf Kasirye was shot on the head while covering presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi’s rally in Masaka. An NTV journalist, Ali Mivule was also shot in the leg. It is only the army and Uganda Police that have exclusive possession and use of firearms, rubber bullets and teargas.
