Ohio State Finishes Fourth at Big Fives

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 21 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team (7-6, 6-5 Big Ten) finished fourth with a team score of 195.275 at the Big Five Meet on Friday to close its Big Ten regular season. No. 8 Minnesota won the meet with a 197.375, followed by No. 19 Illinois (196.500), Maryland (195.725), Ohio State and Nebraska (195.200). The Buckeyes opened the competition on beam with a 48.650. Alexis Hankins scored a 9.850 to pace the team while Colby Miller matched her season high on a 9.825. Ohio State had a bye for the second rotation and picked things up on floor in the third rotation, where it had a 48.975. Elexis Edwards and Claire Gagliardi both earned a 9.850, which tied Edwards’ career mark. Brooke Chesney scored a 9.825 for the third time this season.

Two Worcester schools given grant for new laptops from Platform Housing

GIFT: Year 2 pupils, Rio and Jacob from Hollymount School in Worcester, with one of the donated laptops TWO Worcester schools are celebrating after receiving a grant to purchase laptops. Carnforth School in Warndon and Hollymount School in Tolladine have been awarded a total grant of £10,500 from Platform Housing Group; the money has been used to purchase 33 laptops. The schools successfully applied for the grant through the social landlord’s Platform Community Chest, with a customer panel approving the application. Platform customers, charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for funding to bring about positive changes for Platform communities. The laptops – which are helping to support children accessing remote learning during the pandemic – are currently on loan to families, will return to school when children are back and continue to have a positive impact on the education of pupils.

Ohio State Tops Rutgers, 195 950-194 050

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 24 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team improved to 4-3 on the season with a 195.950-194.050 victory over Rutgers on Sunday at the Rutgers Athletic Center. The Buckeyes claimed every team event title and tied their season best on vault (48.975). Individually, four Buckeyes won at least a share three events titles, led by a season-high scores from Elexis Edwards on vault (9.875) and Jenna Swartzentruber on beam (9.850). “We faced a lot of adversity today and rallied to get another good road score,” said head coach Meredith Paulicivic. “This team continues to fight, improve and build confidence every week.”

Buckeyes Score a Season-High 196 375 to Win Tri-Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team (3-3, 3-2 Big Ten) upset a pair of ranked Big Ten opponents with a season-high 196.375 to win its 2021 home opener at the Covelli Center on Sunday afternoon. No. 20 Illinois finished second with a score of 196.075 and No. 17 Michigan State scored a 194.500 to place third. “The greatest thing about today was that it wasn’t the ideal dreamy start at home,” said head coach Meredith Paulicivic. “We left the door wide open and this team fought all the way through. They got better as the meet went on and learned that fighting until the end can really pay off. It was great to see this young team figure it out.”

Buckeyes Finish Second at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team (1-3, 1-2 Big Ten) finished second at a tri-meet with Michigan State and Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. The Buckeyes had a team score of 195.325 while the Spartans’ 195.775 won the meet and the Cornhuskers placed third with a 194.725. As a team, Ohio State claimed the vault title with a 48.975, which tied its season high. Five Buckeyes won shares of three event titles. Elexis Edwards and Sydney Jennings earned a share of the vault crown with scores of 9.825 while Colby Miller and Jenna Swartzentruber shared the bars title with a pair of 9.850s. Alexis Hankins tied for first on floor behind a 9.875.
