SUPPORTED internship programme creates future prospects for additional learning students. A South Essex College student studying on the additional learning programme has secured an internship with Southend organisation, 24 fingers, to become a social media marketing guru.
The supported internship programme is aimed at students who have additional needs or learning difficulties and are ready for the world of work. It helps them take the next step into sustainable employment through internships that last between six months and one year.
Krista Hoare, 22, has cerebral palsy, but is not letting this get in the way of her ambitions to pursue a career in journalism. She said: “I was really happy when the supported internship found me a placement with 24 Fingers as I would someday like to become a journalist. My job coach Lisa has been so supportive, and Emma at 24 Fingers has been very kind and welcoming. I am very excited to see where this internship journey will take me.
