(Photo: Kunjan Malde for The FA) Aston Villa twice equalised to draw 2-2 with Reading in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, the second leveller on 91 minutes. The Royals were ahead inside three minutes of Saturday’s fixture at Walsall FC, Angharad James scoring with a close-range header after Lisa Weiss had parried Jess Fishlock’s 20-yard strike. Emma Mitchell and Bethan Roberts both tested the Villa keeper, who collided with Lauren Bruton when trying to gather her own loose clearance as Reading remained on top in the first half.

Then as now, Chelsea had taken a lead but squandered other chances created, only to be pegged back later on. This time, however, Fran Kirby came to the rescue. Barely four minutes after the equaliser, a long goal kick from Ann-Katrin Berger befuddled United’s defenders. Kirby was able to run onto the bouncing ball and calmly slot past Mary Earps to seal a 2-1 win. It was the kind of composure in front of goal that Chelsea had lacked in the first half. It was also a reminder to United that you can never switch off in these matches.

There s heartache in Nova Scotia as hopes fade for fishers lost at sea

Last Updated: Monday, January 18, 2021 09:34 There is sadness and heartache Down East today. Atlantic Canada has lost another fishing boat and–barring a miracle–the six-person crew that manned it. As night fell Wednesday, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax announced it was suspending its air and sea search for the missing fishermen aboard the Chief William Saulis–last heard from near dawn on Tuesday when it sent up an emergency beacon in high seas and gusting winds. “Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the families, friends, and community of these men,” the JRCC said on Twitter. The company where the fishers worked, Yarmouth Sea Products, confirmed their names: Aaron Cogswell, Leonard Gabriel, Dan Forbes, Michael Drake and Geno Francis, and Captain Charles Roberts.
