There is a distinct similarity in the name of the duo - Mehedi Hasan and Mahedi Hasan - and their skill set is also the same, off-spinning all-rounder.
Since the start of the national training camp on January 10 ahead of Bangladesh’s home series against West Indies, one thing remained pretty much the same, both of them working together closely in the nets.
The duo even batted together in the nets when the opportunity was given by the team management after making them bowl for hours and honing their fielding skill in the opening two-day of the camp.

2020: A year to savour for Bangladesh cricket amid pandemic

DHAKA, Dec 29, 2020 (BSS) -The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ate up the most of cricket season of Bangladesh in 2020, a year which was set to be an “epic year” for them.
Bangladesh was scheduled to play a whopping amount of Test matches, for which they were always craving for. But they ended up playing only two Tests due to the pandemic-induced break as the cricket around the world experienced an unprecedented scenario almost throughout the year. Still there are some highs and lows.
Winning the Under-19 World Cup was a landmark achievement for Bangladesh cricket that made the year something to savour amid the COVID-19 mayhem.

Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque is relieved to have the services of Shakib Al Hasan available in the upcoming Test series against West Indies as his presence will bolster their strength by bringing in some much balance in the playing eleven.
West Indies are due to arrive on January 10 to play three ODIs followed by a two-match Test series.
Mominul said that he is very happy that Shakib returned to the Test set-up following his ban as he feels it is always nice to have such an experienced campaigner beside him
