At least 15 civilians were killed and 20 injured on Friday after a motorbike loaded with explosives blew up at a religious ceremony in the Gilan district of the Ghazni province in eastern Afghanistan on Friday.
Over 20 people were also wounded in the blast, Pajhwok Afghan News reported. At least 15 civilians were killed and 20 more were wounded in an explosion at a gathering in Gelan district, Ghazni province, this afternoon, the Interior Ministry Affairs spokesman Tariq Arian said.
The spokesman said the explosives were loaded on a motorbike parked near a house in a village where the ceremony was being held.

AFP, interior ministry spokesperson Tariq Arian confirmed the blast at a house where a Quran recitation was being held. Unfortunately, as a result of this incident 15 people, all children, were martyred, said Wahedullah Jumazada, the spokesperson for the Ghazni governor.

The explosives were loaded on a motorbike that was parked near a house in Agho Jan village in Gelan district where a group of people had gathered to attend a Quran recitation ceremony, the Interior Affairs Ministry’s spokesman Tariq Arian said.
The explosion comes amidst a sharp increase in violence in the country despite efforts to end the decades of conflicts through a political solution.
