Winter storms glazed Northeast Pennsylvaniaâs streets with ice Monday night and left snow and frigid temperatures across the Midwest. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service is forecasting another storm expected to bring more heavy snow to the region on Thursday.
All that inclement weather is starting to take a toll on the COVID-19 vaccination supply chain.
âDue to the severe winter weather that has impacted much of the country, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has notified several states, including Pennsylvania, that expected COVID vaccine shipments for this week will be delayed, â Geisinger spokesman Matt Mattei said.

Randy L. Milliken, 62, of Port Royal, passed away at 3:22 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown and will be announced upon completion.

MILFORD TOWNSHIP- Ratana M. Mckeever was pronounced deceased at 4:11 p.m., Jan. 31 after being involved in a car crash. The crash occurred on Sunday at 2:40 p.m., as driver Ratana M. Mckeever, 69, of Mifflin, was traveling north on Route 35 in the area of Cardinal Lane. Mckeever was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 in the northbound lane at approximately 40 mph. At the time of the crash, it was daylight and snowing with slippery roadway conditions. As Mckeever was negotiating a right hand curve in the roadway, the vehicle lost traction and fishtailed. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and onto an embankment, striking a utility pole with its 12 o’clock position and rolling over. The vehicle came to a final stop on its roof facing east in a field off the ride side of the roadway.

That was the excited message Gabby Hayward recently shared on her social media page, adding, “Thank you, Elyssa Johannesen, for administering my second dose and completing my COVID-19 vaccination journey!”
Gabby and Elyssa are friends and coworkers with Pharmacy Services at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. And now they’re fighting COVID-19 together.
“What could be more special than friends vaccinating friends to keep each other safe?” Gabby concluded in her post.
The women, along with Miranda Graham, another team member, all received the second dose of the vaccine on January 7. Their first doses were administered December 19.
