A year of firsts and lasts for Coughlin High School

While this year has been a year of firsts for Coughlin High School due to the unprecedented coronavirus, it is also a year of lasts. The current senior class will be the last graduating class of Coughlin. Next school year, James M. Coughlin, Elmer L. Meyers, and G.A.R Memorial high schools will combine to form Wilkes-Barre Area High School. Students and teachers are excited to attend the brand new, state-of-the-art school. Nonetheless, many have taken it upon themselves to make Coughlin’s last year one to remember. Coronavirus has presented many of Coughlin’s clubs with a unique challenge. While the clubs wish to make this last year of Coughlin memorable, COVID-19 guidelines have made annual club trips, activities, and events nearly impossible. Despite the obstacles, Coughlin’s clubs have persevered by coming up with creative and innovative ways to continue their functions while remaining safe.
