30 European companies form HyDeal Ambition project to deliver 95GW of solar & 67GW of hydrogen

16 February 2021 A consortium of 30 European energy companies and financial institutions have launched the HyDeal Ambition project, which aims at delivering 100% green hydrogen across Europe at a price of just €1.5/kg before 2030 by building 95GW worth of solar capacity and 67GW worth of hydrogen electrolysis capacity. HyDeal Ambition is the result of 2 years of research and confidential preparation by 30 European energy players, and the targeted price of €1.5/kg ($AU2.3/kg) includes the production of, transmission, and storage of green hydrogen. One of the primary purposes of HyDeal Ambition is to deliver green hydrogen to customers at cost-parity with fossil fuel competitors, helping to make the transition to a carbon-neutral economy a much easier prospect.

EU solar-hydrogen project launches

The HyDeal Ambition initiative aims to delivering 100% green hydrogen across Europe at €1.5/kg by 2030. The production of green hydrogen generated by solar-driven electrolysis from the Iberian Peninsula will begin in 2022 with the goal of scaling capacity to 95GW of solar to drive 67GW of electrolysis capacity by 2030, enabling annual production of 3.6 million tonnes of green hydrogen. Off takers will be companies in the energy, industrial and mobility sectors that will be supplied with green hydrogen via the gas transmission and storage network. A phased approach is anticipated with first deliveries in Spain and the south-west of France followed by an extension towards the east of France and then Germany.

CORRECTED-UPDATE 1-French unions call for strikes at EDF, Engie over reorganisation plans

路透新闻部 (Corrects strike dates, makes clear several unions involved) PARIS, Jan 7 (Reuters) - France’s power and gas unions will call for strikes at French power groups Engie on Jan. 14 and at EDF on Jan. 19 if reorganisation plans are not withdrawn by next Wednesday, the CGT union said in a press release on Thursday. These would be the fourth and fifth days of strike action since Dec. 10 at EDF over the Hercules restructuring plan. Unions fear the reorganisation of state-owned EDF, which is the subject of negotiations between Paris and the European Union, would pave the way for the dismantling and privatisation of the group.
