Wrexham rural officers working with drone and youth justice teams

The Leader has reported previously on Operation Blue Hummingbird. It was created to prevent problems in identified hotspots, reassure the community, engage with youths and work with partner agencies to provide intervention and education to youths and parents following concerns about anti-social behaviour. Inspector Gavin Gilmore of the Wrexham Rural police team said there has been an uplift in the number of offences by youths aged 11 to 15 over recent weeks. He said the offences have included a range of criminal damage caused to vehicles and properties in areas such as Brynteg, Ponciau, Caego, Southsea, Plas Madoc and Cefn Mawr. We have identified a number of youths and are looking to start bringing prosecutions through the youth court soon, he explained.

Inspector s warning to motorists following catalytic converter thefts in Wrexham

MOTORISTS have been urged to take precautions following reports of catalytic converter thefts. Officers from the Eastern Community Safety policing team warned on Wednesday that the thefts had taken place in the Wrexham area, with 4x4 type vehicles being targeted. Wrexham Rural Inspector Gavin Gilmore said: We have had catalytic converter thefts from motor vehicles. They seem to be targeting Toyota and Honda vehicles. Our warning to people with these types of vehicles is to be vigilant, set your alarms and check for disturbances. We ve recorded four or five of these in Wrexham and surrounding forces have had more. There is no trend as to when they re happening - they seem to be at all hours of the day.

Described as an operation set up by his ‘proactive Neighbourhood Policing Team’ investigating a conspiracy to supply class A drugs in the Wrexham rural policing area and across into Flintshire, with arrests made. Inspector Gilmore said, “We successfully arrested two men in the Brymbo and Southsea areas. They were charged for Conspiracy to supply Class A and various wounding offences, and remanded in custody.”
