James Savery was fined after threatening police with violence on Huntly Road on Tuesday. Officers were investigating reports of an assault in the street and forced their way into the property after repeatedly knocking the door. They found multiple partygoers, including Savery, under the influence at around 5.30am at the Craigie address, which was a clear breach of Covid-19 rules. Dundee Sheriff Court was told that a member of the public had phoned the police to report a man lying unconscious in the street.

Richard Nicoll, 22, threatened the families of PCs Lewis Smith and Jamie Hays after being placed in a police van on December 9. Dundee Sheriff Court heard how one of the officers drew his taser in an effort to calm Nicoll down but did not discharge it. Residents on Abernethy Road had raised multiple complaints with police throughout the evening because of the noise that was coming from Nicoll’s address. Nicoll immediately became aggressive after answering the door to the police.
