Traffic bound for the Bridge of the Americas to Juárez will be rerouted starting Monday from Interstate 10 to U.S. 54, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.  Juárez-bound commuters will be routed to U.S. 54 to access the ramp leading to the bridge better known as the  puente libre, or free bridge.  Traffic from I-10 will need to travel north on U.S. 54 and use the Pershing Drive turnaround to get on U.S. 54 southbound. TxDOT said in a news release that the change in traffic control is in response to long backups which have delayed cross-town and even cross-country traffic on I-10 in El Paso in recent weeks.
