The roll out of COVID-19 vaccine across North Carolina, including in Gaston County, has been slow and steady to date.
That may change going forward according to state health officials Friday who warned that some counties may get little or no vaccine next week.
North Carolina Gov Roy Cooper told Raleigh s ABC affiliate Friday that the state had completed some 625,000 vaccinations to date but said there s not nearly enough vaccine to go around.
Cooper said by Monday or Tuesday the state will have used all of the first vaccine doses provided by the federal government.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services confirmed Friday that means the state will receive 120,000 doses weekly going forward. A large portion of those doses next week are committed to large scale events, like the one held Friday at Charlotte Motor Speedway that vaccinated some 16,000 people in a single day.
