A GUNMAN and a getaway driver have been jailed for 12 years each after a shooting carried out on behalf of notorious gang boss Leon Cullen. Lewis Sinclair and Andrew Johannessen were locked up yesterday, Wednesday, after being convicted of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fire of violence. Bolton Crown Court heard that the incident arose out of a dispute between Warrington’s former most wanted man and another organised crime group. Andrew Scott, prosecuting, described how Shawn O’Malley – of Withers Avenue in Orford, Warrington – had conspired with Johannessen and Sinclair to travel to Bolton in a stolen Mercedes on September 9 2019 and carry out the shooting.

Lewis Sinclair shot at the occupied house in Hilden Street, letting off six rounds into the windows and door before fleeing in a getaway car driven by Andrew Johannessen. Both men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and a third man, Shawn O’Malley, who was with Sinclair in Hilden Street, is due to be sentenced for his involvement in the shooting and other offences at Liverpool Crown Court in September.

Police spotted a black Ford Focus in Gaskell Street off Chorley Old Road. The driver tried to escape from police patrols where it was chased into Johnson Fold. The car was then abandoned in Shackleton Grove where the driver tried to escape of foot, police say. Police used GMP dogs to chase the driver where they were detained on Knott Lane. Police say the car was therefore seized with the driver also arrested. A GMP Traffic spokesman said: Ford Focus sighted Gaskell Street. Makes off from patrols. A pursuit was authorised and it would be pursued into Johnson Fold where it was abandoned on Shackleton Grove.
