glamour, the lifestyle that the world has come to know. it very interesting to say people were more subdued because this time of year would be the day that most of us would be seeing image of dubai in spectacular fashion. literally you couldn t see the from my vantage point here at burj in downtown, you couldn t see to the top because the smoke from the fire covered the burj khalifa the very top. it s bizarre because anywhere else you are in the world you always see the entire burj. but here so close you couldn t see the whole thing lit up because of the smoke at the top of burj khalifa. that gives you some sense of the juxtaposition. you have the clock strike midnight and the fire raging and
i did feel safe because i am about 200 to 300 yards away from both. the fire looked contained in that area although it was raging when the clock struck midnight. it looks like it more contained now. but getting, i think, to a larger point which your guests have said, which you have alluded to, it s just surreal and almost poor form when there s a fire raging and people are running away from it go ahead with the fireworks display, even while it is new year s eve, i had many guests here at my apartment and they didn t feel right. they just sort of bowed their heads and didn t want to take pictures because it didn t feel right. dubai s a country where the united arab emirates is a country, but dubai is a city that celebratesite image,
concerned, i ve been thinking about that. there s a there s a conflict going on in the world. now, we don t know what caused this fire. and we don t think it was terrorism but what the governments the terrorists want to put fear in a population. now, again, we don t know what was the cause of the fire. but governments want us not to fear. so they re inclined to go along with the fireworks program. and the terrorists are trying to instill fear in a population. and again, we don t know what the cause of this fire was. but governments, new york city tonight, will go along with their celebration. so the governments are trying to calm the people. and that s one of the reasons why they have this fireworks
over. lama tell us what you re seeing right now. right now i m literally looking at floor by floor, you can say this is around 40 floors right now, and the fire s inside apartments. and you ve got a very large white flame engulfing the entire hotel and coming toward burj khalifa and actually heading south towards the beach. but every single room looks really lit. i really doubt there s any water systems in the rooms. you can physically see probably some distance and all the furniture, which is madness honestly. i m going to go back to i think we still have amir hanjani on the phone. it seems we may have lost amir hanjani on the phone. but he s been communicating with me and saying he has seen debris land in his balcony where he is. we ll try to get him back on the phone to hear that.
