FRONT ROYAL â Council members have voted 4-0 in favor of a motion to approve a change in the fiscal 2021 budget to reflect that the town received $88,109 from Warren County for funds awarded by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development COVID-10 Municipal Utility Relief Program. The town plans to distribute the money to eligible delinquent utility accounts.
The motion also calls for the Town Council to authorize the town manager to execute an agreement with Warren County for the use of the funds.
Finance Director B.J. Wilson said the town has approximately $545,000 in unpaid utility accounts. Accounts that are at least 30 days delinquent are eligible for the new funding, though priority is given to those that are 60 days past due, Wilson explained. Not all eligible accounts have received previous relief funds, he added.
