A 21-year-old man accused of assaulting a Moncton bartender in November has chosen to be tried in provincial court by judge alone over 10 days in April.
Abdallah Abu Zeid, 21, faces a charge of aggravated assault against Jacques Vautour on Nov. 8 in downtown Moncton.
Zeid has remained in custody since his arrest in early December. He was denied bail on Dec. 22.
Christian Libotte, one of the two lawyers representing Zeid, entered a not guilty plea on his client s behalf during an appearance Tuesday morning before provincial court Judge Paul Duffie.

A 21-year-old charged with aggravated assault in connection with the severe beating of a Moncton bartender will not be released on bail, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Abdallah Abu Zeid was charged Dec. 5 with the aggravated assault of Jacques Vautour on Nov. 8.
Vautour, 42, was found badly beaten Nov. 8 along Foundry Street about a block from Navigators Pub, where he had worked that night.
A bail hearing was held Dec. 14 and Dec. 18 before provincial court Judge Paul Duffie. The judge ruled Zeid will remain in custody pending trial.

A bail hearing for a man accused of aggravated assault after a Moncton bartender was beaten up was delayed Wednesday for a second day in a row.
Abdalah Abu Zeid, 21, made an appearance by video conference.
Zeid was arrested last Friday and charged with aggravated assault against Jacques Vautour.
Vautour, 42, was found badly beaten Nov. 8 on the sidewalk about a block from the Cosmo Dance Nightclub and Navigators Pub, off Robinson Court, where he had tended bar that night.
