Dallas man accused of trying to break into federal prison prepares for trial
Jesse Whitaker, 45, hopped the prison fence, dashed across the yard and forced his way into the prison after firing a pistol, prosecutors say. The defendant says he was being pursued and was in fear for his life.

The unusual prison break at the Seagoville federal facility last spring caught officials by surprise.
That’s because the suspect, Jesse Whitaker, tried to break into the prison in March, not out of it, according to prosecutors.
