But addressing the media on the church premises yesterday, an international member, Dr. Gary Tonge, who spoke on behalf of the church, said the issue of succession was not on the table.
He spoke at a press conference to announce burial activities of the late clergyman, tagged: ‘Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Prophet T.B Joshua – Not Mine But God’s Own.’
Responding to questions on the succession plan of the church, Tonge said: “If there is anything to say on the subject, it will be clearly, plainly and directly announced.
The Synagogue Church of All Nations on Tuesday held a press briefing ahead of the funeral service of its late founder, Prophet T.B. Joshua.
In the press briefing held to update newsmen about the funeral arrangements, the church refused to affirm the appointment of a new leader. The church said matters of such will require ‘God’s anointing’ to direct them when the time is right.
“There is no answer because it is not an administrative issue,” one of the church representatives at the briefing said.
The church restated that the week-long programme would start on July 5 to July 11 at the church headquarters located in the Ikotun area of Lagos state as opposed to the family and monarch of Arigidi, Akoko, Ondo state wish for the cleric to be buried in his hometown.
Late Prophet TB Joshua
The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has said successor of its late founder, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua has not been determined.
The cleric died on June 5 after he had preached in one of the church’s programmes.
At a briefing, yesterday, at the church’s headquarters in Lagos, the church announced that activities lined up for the burial ceremony would last for one week, beginning from July 5 to July 11, even as it stressed that the COVID-19 safety protocols, as laid down by government, would be strictly adhered to.
Reacting to questions from journalists, Gary Tonge, who spoke on behalf of the church, said an announcement would be made on who steps into the shoes of TB Joshua in due course. He said finding his successor was not an administrative issue, but a decision that would be taken through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
