Gary Perkins who runs Spitfire, Bank, Taps and the Vault in Darwen and the Arden Inn, Accrington Pavement licences for venues with little or no outdoor dining spaces are being extended for a further 12 months in order to support the recovery of the hospitality industry. On Monday, Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick confirmed he will extend provisions for temporary pavement licences to help high streets re-open safely once lockdown restrictions are lifted. Details of the announcement, which is still subject to parliamentary approval, were included in a letter sent by Mr Jenrick to local councils urging them to do ‘everything possible’ to get ready for the reopening of the country’s high streets.

How will Boris Johnson lift lockdown and what will happen first?

How will Boris Johnson lift lockdown and what will happen first? The Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce plans for his roadmap out of lockdown today. Over the last week, Mr Johnson has been adamant that any easing of lockdown restrictions must happen in stages , with a return to the classroom for schoolchildren thought to be one of the first things on his agenda. But what about the hospitality industry, gyms and leisure centres, holidays abroad and most importantly, seeing family? While it s not yet clear exactly how the government plan to end the lockdown, with rumours pubs could only re-open in May, and no mention of any easing of restrictions for gyms or sports facilities, the PM s decisions over how and when restrictions may be lifted will be informed by the latest Covid-19 data, which he and his colleagues have examined closely over the weekend.

Pubs must open at the same time as non-essential retail without restrictions say Lancashire landlords

LANDLORDS are demanding that they should be allowed to reopen in line with non-essential shops as lockdown is relaxed. The hospitality industry was one of the last to be allowed to reopen after the first lockdown and with the Government set to announce the roadmap out of lockdown next week, pub bosses have said they need to be allowed to reopen or be given extra support while they remain closed. It has been reported that pubs may be allowed to reopen in April, but only serve customers outdoors. The British Beer and Pub Association said that it believes in Blackburn and Darwen 68 pubs out of the borough s 113 will remain closed if outdoor service only is permitted at pubs from April.
