London Man Arrested On Drug Charges Following Suspicious Person Complaint

Gary Mehler and Deputy Marcus Stigall were called out to a business parking lot off Rocky Branch Road, about 4 miles South of London, on suspicious person complaint. Deputies arrived to find 35-year-old Jimmy Jones of London and determined he was under the influence. During the investigation Jones began creating a disturbance, cursing and refusing to follow commands. After a brief scuffle Jones was taken into custody. He also threatened deputies during his arrest. Jones was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on drug charges. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Derek Lewis LRC Public Information LONDON - After more than a year following his arrest, a jury found Representative Derek Lewis of the 90th district not guilty for operating a motor vehicle under the influence at the conclusion of his trial in Laurel County District Court Wednesday.   “I expected it quite frankly. From the outset, we maintained his innocence,” Lewis’s attorney, Conrad Cessna, told the Times-Tribune. “I felt the evidence that was presented today was in line with the verdict. I don’t think the Commonwealth’s burden was met, and I think the jury saw that and returned an appropriate verdict.”

Laurel man facing charges after reportedly threatening ambulance crew with knife

Smith A Laurel County man was arrested Monday after reportedly pulling a knife out on and threatening an ambulance crew who was trying to help his unresponsive wife. Charles B. Smith, 38, had called Laurel 911 center from his residence on Cane Creek Road, approximately 10 miles south of London. He requested an ambulance for his unresponsive wife and according to a Laurel County Sheriff s Office report, he decided to transport her to meet the ambulance crew along the way due to living so far out in the county. The Laurel County Ambulance crew met with him near Penny Lane on KY 229, approximately 2 miles south of London, and upon EMS attempting to assist, Smith reportedly began screaming profanities at both ambulance crew members and threatened to kill and stab them.
