Madie Tomhave got one of the toughest breaks imaginable this spring.
An important part of the Jacksonville volleyball program for the past four years, Tomhave was sidelined by a knee injury with just two weeks left in the season.
So when she subbed in to the Crimsons’ last match of the season Thursday night and walked back to the serving line, her left leg in a brace, Tomhave drew loud cheers from her teammates.
“It was a really big deal,” Tomhave said. “Two weeks ago, I tore my ACL. So it’s been really hard sitting on the bench these past two weeks, but I love supporting my teammates and this year was really special to be playing anyway because of everything that was going on with COVID and stuff.
