Planes on plug-in power: Electric future for Wairarapa air travel

The future of commercial air travel to and from Wairarapa could be electric.
Late last year, travel strategists met in Masterton to debate the long-term prospects of flights in and out of Hood Aerodrome.
The talks included Air New Zealand representatives, Masterton District Council and the airport s recently formed strategic advisory group.
The blue-sky thinking fell short of commitments to returning commuter flights to the area after a seven-year hiatus.

But tomorrow s journeys could run on plug-in power, rather than traditional fuels.
