For the first time since 2019, Washburn University s percussion ensemble will perform its first live, in-person concert and for many of the members, it will be a joyous moment.
The group, made of up six Washburn students, will perform a spring concert 6:30 p.m. April 15. The concert will take place outdoors on the lawn between the Memorial Union and the Garvey Fine Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.
Percussion group members include Simone Cruz, Daniel Albertson, Nickolas Hogue, Miles Moore, Darius Greenawalt and Daniel Buller.
According to Von Hansen, percussion director and assistant director of bands, the performance will include a fast percussion piece played on keyboard, marimbas, mallet instruments, vibraphones and tuned copper pipes.
