The Paramount Chief of Kusaug Traditional Area and President of the Kusaug Traditional Council, Zugraan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II has renewed the ban on funerals, weddings, spinnings and other social gatherings in line with government s covid-19 restrictions.
He said the renewed ban is to efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The overload of the Kusasi Kingdom announced in a press statement read on his behalf at his palace in Bawku in the Upper East Region.
The Bawku Municipal branch of the Forestry Commission (FC) is undertaking a rescue mission to restore the dwindling forest resources of 1000 hectares of degraded landscape in both on-forest reserves and off-reserves in the Municipality and its environs this year.
The exercise is part of Government’s intervention to enhance environmental quality through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and its stakeholders, that is to restore and establish degraded Forest lands and incorporate trees on farmlands.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bawku, Upper East Region, Mr Emmanuel Omane, the Bawku Forestry Manager, said heavy pressure on natural forest resources was high and the impact on rural livelihoods in the Bawku enclave unbearable.

Out of the number, 45 are from the Bolgatanga Municipality, 31 from the Kassena-Nankana Municipality, two from the Kassena-Nankana West District, nine from Bongo district and one each from the Bolgatanga East District and Builsa North Municipality.
The report, compiled by the Regional Director of the GHS, Dr. Emmanuel Dzotsi and his team as at January 14, 2021, noted that “Fifteen of the active cases are currently on admission at the treatment centre, the rest are being managed at home.”
