Callout to Surfer in Difficulty Caps Full Weekend for Courtmacsherry Lifeboat

CourtmacsherryRNLI s all-weather Trent class lifeboat Frederick Story Cockburn was called out yesterday afternoon, Sunday 26 April at 3.40pm as people reported a surfer in difficulty off Garrylucas Beach near the Old Head of Kinsale.
The lifeboat under coxswain Ken Cashman and a crew of six was under way within minutes and proceeded at full speed to the area of the casualty, where it carried to a detail search while the Old Head and Seven Heads Coast Guard unit searched from the shoreline.
RNLI reminding people to use extreme caution when on or near the water this summer 6 people were winched to safety at Rocky Bay in Nohoval yesterday when they became trapped by the tide.
Coast Guard crews and Rescue helicopter 117 were tasked to the scene at around 4pm and the people were winched onboard the helicopter and taken to safety.
Meanwhile Courtmacsherry RNLI were called out to assist a surfer in difficulty off Garrylucas Beach yesterday afternoon just after 3:30pm.
The crew searched the water for 40 minutes before the operation was stood down.
The volunteer lifeboat crew were also called to assist a swimmer in Broadstrand on Friday, and four people in difficulty off Garrettstown Strand on Saturday.
