Two new COVID-19 cases at city run long-term care home

  OTTAWA All residents on the fourth floor of the Centre d accueil Champlain long-term care home will be tested after two cases of COVID-19. In a memo to Council Sunday afternoon, Community and Social Services general manager Donna Gray said a resident and an employee at the city-run long-term care home tested positive for novel coronavirus. The fourth floor of the home has been placed on outbreak. No other information about the positive cases have been released. The city completed administering the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to residents in all long-term care homes in February. In March, the city said 99 per cent of residents at Centre d accueil Champlain had received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Fifteenth straight day of more than 100 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa

  OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting 156 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday, the lowest one-day increase in COVID-19 cases in the capital in a week. There are no new deaths linked to novel coronavirus in Ottawa. The daily COVID-19 dashboard shows 103 of the 156 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa involve residents between the ages of 20 and 50. Since the first case of COVID-19 on March 11, 2020, there have been 18,788 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, including 470 deaths. Today is the first day of a provincewide stay-at-home order, designed to limit the spread of COVID-19. The 156 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday follows 196 new cases on Wednesday, 176 new cases on Tuesday and 237 cases on Monday.

Ottawa sees another 176 COVID-19 cases as weekly trends hit record highs

  OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting another 176 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ottawa and one more person has died. This brings Ottawa s pandemic totals to 18,436 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 469 deaths among residents since the pandemic began. The weekly incidence rate of cases per 100,000 population continues to climb to record levels. This is the 13th straight day that Ottawa has reported a daily case count in the triple digits. It is the longest triple-digit case count streak of the pandemic so far. OPH also reported nine new cases of suspect COVID-19 varaints and one more death is linked to a variant of concern or mutation.
