On a night when Ty Doucet scored her 1,000th point as a Ragin Cajun, Skyler Goodwin sunk two free throws with 2.5 seconds left in the 4th quarter to break a tie, and Louisiana got 26 points from their bench, the most important stat for Garry Brodhead and his squad was the final score.
The Louisiana Ragin Cajun women s basketball team defeated Texas State 62-60, earning their 5th win in a row.
Ty Doucet led the way in scoring for the home team, finishing with 14 points, and joining a prestigious club in the process.
Skyler Goodwin scored 13, while Alexandria Goodley came off the bench to score 9 on a 3-3 night from beyond the arc.

The University of Louisiana women’s basketball program was set to play in the Cajundome this week.
That will not happen after the two-game series against the UT Arlington Mavericks was postponed on Wednesday due to COVID-19 concerns within the Lady Mavs’ basketball program.
The Ragin’ Cajuns were scheduled to play UT Arlington on Friday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Cajundome.
Louisiana head basketball coach Garry Brodhead released the following statement on the postponement:
“It is unfortunate that we now have a second conference series postponed, but the health and wellness of all involved continues to be our top priority. Our team will prepare for a return to competition as we look ahead to our series at Arkansas State next weekend.”
The University of Louisiana women’s basketball team’s game at Little Rock has been postponed.
The Ragin’ Cajuns announced on Thursday that the team’s two-game Sun Belt Conference series with the Trojans had been postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Little Rock’ program.
The SBC will work with the two programs on rescheduling the series for a later date.
“We are obviously disappointed we will not be able to travel to Little Rock, but the health and wellness of our student-athletes and staff continue to be our top priority,” Cajuns coach Garry Brodhead said. “We look forward to getting back onto the court to continue our season next weekend at home against UT Arlington.”
Brandi Williams scored a season-high 20 points for Louisiana, but it wasn t enough on Friday in San Marcos, as Louisiana Ragin Cajun women s basketball fell to Texas State 71-63 in the first Sun Belt game of the season.
Turnovers proved to be a big difference-maker, as UL gave it away 16 times. Texas State took advantage, scoring 22 points of the giveaways. The Bobcats finished with 13 turnovers of their own, which the Cajuns turned into 10 points.
Trailing by 10 entering the 4th quarter, coach Garry Brodhead s squad refused to go away, going on a 7-0 run to close the deficit to 6 points late to keep the game in question, but in the end, they ran out of time.
LAFAYETTE â The Ragin Cajuns won t be playing inside the Cajundome for more than a month, but at least the team will be hitting its lengthy road trip with some momentum.
The University of Louisiana women s basketball team easily defeated visiting McNeese State, 80-48, Wednesday to improve to 1-1 on the season. The Ragin Cajuns will begin a six-game road trip on Wednesday at Rice. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
A total of 37 days will have passed from Wednesday s game until the Ragin Cajuns play another game in the Cajundome â a contest against UT Arlington on Jan. 15. I think it is important for the kids to see that we have the opportunity to win some games, Ragin Cajuns coach Garry Brodhead said. Before the season started, I looked at the schedule and thought we could win every game. I believe that our team can continue to have that attitude.
