DENVER â After last yearâs devastating wildfire season, a bipartisan group of Colorado lawmakers has introduced a series of bills to put the state on better footing for the future.
The legislative work is being tackled on three fronts: mitigate risks, suppress fires that do pop up and protect forest health.
âLast summer was the severest wildfire season weâve ever had in the state,â said Sen. Chris Hansen, D-Denver. âThis is a serious problem and itâs likely to get more serious because of the effects of climate change.â
