LOCAL bands and musicians making contemporary, non-traditional sounds in genres like rock, metal, indie, rap and electronic music are being invited to apply for a one-off project in which artists will record and stream a live performance at Mareel.

The film will be broadcast on Shetland Arts social media and online platforms and both the EP and film will be owned by the band or musician for their own promotion and marketing.

SHETLAND’s art centre Mareel is to temporarily close its doors from Saturday (Boxing Day) as the isles move into level three of Covid restrictions, which includes the suspension of cinema and live events.
All cancelled cinema bookings are being automatically refunded, the arts organisation said in a statement.
Bonhoga Gallery and the Garrison Theatre would usually be closed over this festive period and the organisation plans to re-open their venues as soon as public health guidance allows.
